Bayston Hill Library Consultation
27th July 2026

Bayston Hill Parish Council are considering taking over the running and upkeep of Bayston Hill Library. Shropshire Council are no longer in a financial position to do so.

Due to fluctuating costs of things like energy, staff and rates we can only base the estimated increase on current costs. Therefore, we would expect the money needed to increase over time.

In order to do this we would have to increase the precept, which is the portion of your council tax that you pay annually to Bayston Hill Parish Council.

Based on what we know now we would be adding approx. £15.63 (30p per house per week) to your bills. This would be for the library alone and does not factor in any other increases for projects we already have ongoing.

This is a big decision so Bayston Hill Parish Council would like your opinion.
